CALL-OUT TO WRITERS: FAMILY FILMS & CHILDREN’S TELEVISION

Miss Conception Films is looking for fresh ideas for New Zealand family films and children’s drama series.

​

We are looking for creators interested in developing their projects collaboratively with Miss Conception Films. Our intention is to work alongside the originating creator to strengthen the story, shape the project for its intended audience and seek development funding.

Writer eligibility:  Applicants must be NZ citizens, permanent residents or based in NZ? Setting the story here does not establish who can apply.

At this initial stage, we invite writers to submit ideas for:

• Family feature films designed for intergenerational viewing — stories that children or teenagers can enjoy alongside parents and/or grandparents.

• Children’s drama series aimed at 8 – 12 year olds suitable for local broadcasters as well as streamers, designed for a commercial half-hour slot.

Both film and TV series ideas must be set in New Zealand and achievable on a modest budget. We are looking for live-action stories that do not rely heavily on animation, visual or special effects.

Please submit one document only with the following information included

• Project title

• Format

• Logline

• A short synopsis of up to 500 words.

• A long synopsis of up to five pages.

• intended audience

• creators contact details and a brief biography.

• For television the longer synopsis should include a synopsis for each episode.

This call-out is for new projects that have not previously been submitted for funding or have been pitched to broadcasters already.

If you have a project that has already successfully received funding and does not have a lead producer attached, please email us separately with this project.

 

All applicants will be notified by email of the outcome within six weeks of submitting. Due to limited capacity, we are unable to provide individual project feedback.
